WET WORK
The new spring irrigation schedule has been posted here, on the Enclave website. It’s located in “Folders”, “Irrigation”. Note that we are now getting watered twice weekly.
The wetter than normal winter as we head into the spring growing season should give our lawns a good start. I’m sure you all remember last year’s perfect storm of unprecedented drought, broken sprinklers, and malfunctioning wells that devastated so many lawns. No one wants a repeat of that!
On the subject of wells, Power Corporation has agreed to split the cost of adding a fourth well in the Enclave, which will more evenly distribute the workload. My understanding is that the last piece that needs to be in place prior to starting anything is securing an electrical contractor willing and able to take on the job. More info to come as it becomes available.
In other landscaping news, the Q1 fertilization will be taking place soon. Date to be determined. Also, mulching is still scheduled to start March 4, barring any weather related delays.
BYE BYE MyQ
I’ve reported before that Mike and I were testers of the MyQ app when it was rolled out here…..in November of 2022! This app was a convenient and very user-friendly tool. We submitted our feedback recommending that it be offered to the whole community, and then heard nothing until last month when we were informed that our access would be discontinued effective 2-1-24. We were told that the Master Board, who had a license agreement for approximately 30 users did not want to spend the money to expand the license to cover the whole community. I don’t know if the original license was discontinued, or if we just got bumped off the list for someone else, but whatever the reason, I find this decision not to offer this to everyone to be short-sighted. I’m sure you’ve all seen the backups that can and do frequently happen at the visitor gate, or heard the frustration from guests who’ve fumbled at the call box. If anyone else in the Enclave was a tester, I’d be interested to hear your feedback on the app.
THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG
Does anyone else out there think tipping has gone completely over the edge? I’m not talking about a meal in a restaurant, a personal service, or a food delivery person. I’m talking about the tip jar or payment screen that has become a ubiquitous sight everywhere from picking up take out, to fast food joints, and the gall of some places to request a tip BEFORE rendering their product/service. Remember that TIPS is an acronym for To Insure Prompt Service. I believe in appropriate tipping, but I will never be guilted into leaving a tip when it’s not warranted. Share your tipping rants if you want!
