As we head ever closer to February and thoughts turn to the Hallmark holiday of love and romance, I have to admit that I love the “sweater weather” we’ve been having, especially after the intense, soul-sucking heat, humidity, and drought that were the main features of the summer of ‘23.  To put it in perspective for those who think this is cold:  as I write this, my hometown is cleaning up from a blizzard and the current temp is -11!  I’ll take Florida’s version of cold any day!

The first Welcome Reception for new residents had a nice turn out.
By the numbers:
12 invites were delivered representing 22 people.
6 RSVPd “yes” representing 11 people.
A couple last minute cancellations resulted in a total of 8 new residents attending.

Thanks to all who attended.  I hope the information presented proved useful.  We will do this approximately once per quarter, depending on the number of new residents.  The real estate market is really slow, but now that the holidays are over, we might see an uptick in closings as we head into spring.

The ROLL Committee has a new board for 2024.  They are always looking for activity suggestions and volunteers.   The ROLL Committee plans or sponsors the community social events such as Cabana night, craft shows, day trips, various Clubhouse dinners, etc.  You don’t have to join the committee, but can volunteer event by event if you wish.  It’s a great way to get involved and meet some of your neighbors.  Next up is a Valentine’s Day party.  Stay tuned for details that will be released soon.  In the meantime, if you have ideas for family-friendly events, adult events, outdoor events, pool events, etc, feel free to send them directly to the ROLL committee.  You may also send them here and I will make sure they are forwarded.  heybattaswing@yahoo.com

Until next time, I’ll see you around the neighborhood.
